The second Episode’s dates haven’t changed in this story even with additional novel content. We have a more-or-less consistent schedule up until March of the school year when Episode 7 occurs, but there are blanks in the middle (basically Episode 3’s exact dates).
- Episode 3’s timeline is tricky because the semester exams usually take place at the end of a semester in a western school environment, but in Episode 3 it isn’t very clear exactly WHEN this
happens. We know school lets out until after the New Year for the Winter Holiday… But not exactly how long it is.
- Jade mentions Riddle and the player character chasing him and Floyd around “the other day” during Savanaclaw’s events (in Episode 3-8) though this could mean a lot of different things and he euphemizes a lot.
- Also, it’s not completely clear the length of time before the end of Episode 3 and the beginning of Episode 4 (which happens at the beginning of Winter Holiday according to 4-1 and 4-2).
- We know that Episode 5 begins right after the end of Winter Holiday, which is AFTER the New Year, since it is mentioned that people within the Twisted Wonderland ring the year in at home with their family and loved ones.
- In Episode 5-2 Crowley mentions there is less than 2 months left before the days of the cultural festival. This is kind of confusing since it can mean anywhere from ‘a little over one month’ to ‘just about two months’. It doesn’t make sense if it’s the latter because Crewel has mentioned in 5-1 that the festival is halfway through (or a little later than halfway through) February. Two months before would put it in December…
- Edit | Future author here to clarify that the VDC dates are probably closer to the very end of February given story context. Episode 6 is set anywhere from the end of February to the beginning of March (most likely the latter), and we know that Episode 7 is in March (not exact dates though!) Past me was on the right track 👍🏻
Given the above, here’s my story’s rough timeline… |
1. Episode 1 takes place at around the third week of September in my story. (Originally, it takes place during the first week of the game story.)
2. Episode 2 takes place throughout October, finishing around the end of the month. (This is consistent with the novel/game story.)
3. Episode 3’s semester exams will take place at the very beginning of December, and will last a week (since it’s mentioned they take multiple days in Episode 3).
4. Episode 3 itself takes place during the second week of December. (Don’t know when it takes place in the game story.)
5. The Winter Holiday begins almost exactly halfway through December (guessing around the 15th). It lasts through the New Year and into the first week or so of January.
6. Episode 4 will take place starting December 15th and end before January 1st.
7. Episode 5 begins the second week of January. NRC’s joint cultural festival (including VDC) takes place towards the end of February. It should last 2 days. The training camp in Ramshackle begins exactly four weeks before that, starting at the end of January.
8. Episode 6 begins at the very beginning of March. (Depending on my story’s developments this might be extended into the middle of March)
9. Episode 7 takes place in March. (Tentatively)
10. I have absolutely no clue when the NRC vs. RSA Magift match happens but I’m guessing May or June? (This is either Episode 8 or 9 or whatever number they decide. I’m sure it’s not 7 because of Toboso-sensei’s interview for the Third Anniversary, which everyone should read!)
About Break Time 1
This means we are going to have a few chapters to go between Episode 2 ends and Episode 3 starts. I don’t like doing time-skips without good reason. I apologize to those who were expecting Episode 3 to start right away! But don’t worry—I promise many interesting things are going to happen before then (…I hope?) with Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw and Octavinelle!
About Winter Holiday
There are going to be another few chapters that occur between Episode 4 and Episode 5 for the same reason. Don't worry! There is lots of important stuff occurring between then. Also, Episode 5 starts properly a few days after the new semester begins, so there's a bunch of stuff I have to put in to flesh out the story properly. Please look forward to it and I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing!
