Well, things escalated quickly from their last conversation because here they are still waiting for an anesthesiologist to come and give Lian an epidural.
He arrived in the hospital first and when Lian and Sevi came, the latter rushed to him and transferred Lian's hand on his. Lian was already experiencing an advanced level of excruciating pain and he needed to grip on something to somehow alleviate it.
So while the doctor is not here, Joaquin is surely about to get a few more crunchy curses aside from the death grip on his hand. He can't feel it anymore because the blood flow has been restricted for quite some time now.
But he has no right to complain because this is nothing compared to what the younger is feeling right now. Not even the breathing exercises that they've practiced a thousand times can help Lian.
"SINONG NAGSABI NA KAYA KO KUMALMA?! HINDI, TANGINA NIYO BA, AKALA NIYO BA MADALI LANG TO?!"
Joaquin was startled when Lian shouted again. Kada dumadaan ang contraction ito ay samu't-saring makukulay na salita ang naririnig niya na isinisigaw nito sa presidential suite.
"PUPUTULAN KITA NG PAGKALALAKI JOAQUIN! DAHIL SA PUTUTOY MO KUNG BAKIT TAYO NANDITO NGAYON!"
"Bibigyan pa kita ng kutsilyo, Love."
"AH TALAGA?! EDI IPAPALAPA NA LANG KITA SA PATING PARA MAKAIN KA NG BUO, TANGINAMO MO BA?!"
"Hanapin mo yung pinakamalaki, Love"
"IHUHULOG KITA SA BULKANG MAYON PARA MASUNOG KA NG BUHAY! ANG SAKIT SAKIT NA TANGINAMO MO!"
"Ako na mismo tatalon para di ka mahirapan, Love."
"BAKIT MAY SAGOT KA SA LAHAT HA?! TUMAHIMIK KA NGA! SASAGOT KA PA EH!"
Tumahimik na lang si Joaquin para hindi na siya mapagbuntunan ng galit ng nakababata. Kanina naman na hindi siya sumasagot ay minumura siya ni Lian tapos ngayon na sumasagot na siya naiinis pa rin ito. Pero ano nga ba magagawa niya eh frustrated lang din naman si Lian.
Buti na lang at ilang sandali pa ay dumating na ang anesthesiologist para tusukan si Lian ng epidural. Joaquin saw Lian visibly relax when the medication took effect. Joaquin also sighed in relief when he saw the younger finally got a break from the pain.
10PM
"Ok na love? Much better?"
"Yeah, much better. Sorry for lashing out on you, Joaquin."
"It's fine, love. Again, you can do anything to ease the pain."
"I can't believe na parating na sila ngayon."
"Me too, isipin mo yun, ang tagal natin inisip kung ano ang mukha nila, kanino sila nagmana tapos maya maya lang makikita na natin sila."
"I love you, Joaquin. Thank you for giving me our babies."
"I love you too and I'm more thankful that you chose me, Lian."
11:00pm
"Ok lovebirds, It's finally time for Lian's c-section. Are you excited to me your babies?"
"More than ready po Ate. Lian and I have been waiting for this moment."
"Ok, we will just do the final preparations and we will start. Don't worry you're in good hands Lian."
11:58 pm
Lian was the first to bawl his eyes out when he heard their first baby cry as the doctor got him out. He was covered in blood and white residue but he still looks perfect in Lian's eyes nonetheless.
Renee put the baby in Lian's chest so the both of them can look at their first born.
"Baby boy came out first at 11:58 pm on June 30, 202x"
Their son was crying loudly probably confused as to why he was pulled out from hiz cozy, tight house. Everything must have felt confusing and scary for the newborn child.
But as soon as he was put in contact with Lian's chest, he immediately stopped crying probably sensing his parent's warm hold where he is safe and protected.
"Oh my god, Joaquin, our baby's perfect."
Lian whispered as he looked in awe at the little being that is in his arms.
"He is, he really is. Thank you so much Lian"
Joaquin said as he kissed Lian's forehead in gratitude while relishing the fact that their son is already with them. Tears are already actively falling from his eyes.
"Ahem, Joaquin do you want to cut the umbilical cord now? "
Renee said with an encouraging smile on her face. She offered the scissors closer to Joaquin. The latter wiped the tears in his eyes and enthusiastically nodded as he accepted the scissors while closely listening on how to cut his child's cord. After all, he will do it two times today.
When the cord was cut the baby was also taken to the side for a closer health inspection and cleaning as Renee and her team got to work again to get the baby girl out. This was an easier task than the first because everything is already done and good to go.
12:01am
And baby girl is out at 12:01am and it's already July 1,202x ! This is amazing! Kambal sila pero magkaiba ang araw ng kapanganakan nila. This is the first time I have encountered this in my time as a doctor.
The feeling of excitement and awe never diminshed as they meet their baby girl. She was smaller than his brother but nontheless still looks perfect.
One thing that she have similar to his brother is that she also has a good set of lungs considering that she is also screaming loudly whilst crying. Their little girl is already sassy. Lian can see it now, their baby will surely have his Daddy Joaquin wrap on her little finger.
Joaquin was also quick to cut the umbilical cord so the baby can be cleaned and checked. Afte that was done, Renee and her team got to work again to clean Lian and close cut right after.
Joaquin sighed in relief, thanking the heavens for keeping Lian and their babies safe despite everything.
Joaquin chuckled. Surely, life can't get better from this.
