Haruhi: “Anyway, it’s good to see you two again. It’s been forever since last time!”
Wataya Yuuki: “Uh, it’s barely been three months?”
Haruhi: “Only three? It felt more like a decade to me.”
Kousaka Yamato: “Heh, at least we still find time to grab a drink together every other week.”
Yuuki: “Wait, last time all four of us hung out was on new year, right? So it’s actually our first time together since I got my job!”
Iori: “Has it? Gosh, time flies. How is work going for you?”
Yuuki: “Heh, it’s tough, but so is it for everybody. C’est la vie~”
Haruhi: “What field did you say you worked in again?”
Yuuki: “I’m in the sales department of a major musical instrument maker company—but to dumb it down, I’m the top brass of the corporation!”
Haruhi: “Wow, you hit the jackpot.”
Iori: “Nobody but you could secure that kind of prestigious seat in a blink, Yuuki. Congratulations!”
Yuuki: “D’aw, thank you~ I mostly owe it to my charms and my amazing personality.”
Haruhi: “Pish, look who’s talking… Sure wonder where those ‘charms’ went.”
Yuuki: “What was that?”
Haruhi: “Nothing~ Pretend that I’m not even there~”
Iori: “And how’s work with you, Yamato?”
Yamato: “I’d say life has been pretty good since taking over the family business.”
Iori: “If my memory serves me right, you’re in music management, yes? You must be swamped with work.”
Yamato: “And that's putting it mildly.”
Haruhi: “Who would have thought our Yamato would become head of a company’s empire at the tender age of 22.”
Yamato: “You and I aren’t so different.”
Haruhi: “Hah, we only share positions on the social ladder, and nothing else. My assistant already quit, for example. So it’s just me, myself and my lonesome in the office now.
Yuuki: “Why? Did something happen?”
Haruhi: “Not really, they all just kind of abandon ship after a week or two.”
Yuuki: “They don’t waste time, that’s for sure. I bet your rotten vibes have them all run for the exits…”
Haruhi: “Why would they? There's no one as kind, docile and passionate as me on this big blue planet. I don't see the problem here?”
Yamato: “Somehow I forgot how skewed your self-perception is.””
Haruhi: “I don’t think so!? You tell them, Iori.”
Iori: “Ummm… Well, if you ask me…”
Haruhi: “See!? At least someone here approves my vision.”
Iori: “Don’t put words in my mouth.”
Yamato: “Speaking of, how have you been doing, Iori? You’re in your final year now, yes?”
Iori: “ I am, at last. But listening to you… I don’t know, I feel like I don’t fit into the conversation; like I’m being coddled just because I’m a student while you three are hard at work.”
Yuuki: “Don’t be though, you should enjoy the last of your student days to the fullest~”
Yamato: “Trust me, you’ll regret not doing so. You’ll be a graduate in a blink of an eye.”
Haruhi: “He’s got a point.”
Iori: “I know... I’ll try to remember it.”
Yuuki: “Unrelated topic, but I’ve heard your business has been doing rounds in the industry, Haruhi.”
Yamato: “I see your name trending every single day.”
Haruhi: “That's the sweet reward for working myself to death.”
Yuuki: “Don’t you ever run out of things to write about?”
Haruhi: “I don't feel like myself if I don't compose~ That’s why I don’t take breaks until I’m a hundred percent done with a song~”
Yamato: “Yep, ‘prodigy’ isn’t enough to describe you anymore.”
Iori: “Gosh, I wish I could take a peek inside his head.”
Haruhi: “What for? You know there’s only you and your official merchandise on loop, 24/7.”
Yuuki: “Uh-oh, we tickled his Iori-fanaticism…”
Yamato: “You think we should seek professional help for him?”
Iori: “...Just to be sure you’re not doing something borderline illegal again… You’re not plotting something suspicious, are you?”
Haruhi: “Ehe, nyehehe…”
Track 2–Live music club
Five years ago——
(Gravity’s set comes to an end. The crowd erupts in cheers.)
Iori: “Good evening everybody. We are ‘Gravity’! Thank you for coming all the way here to listen to us. So? Did you like our brand new, unreleased song?” (The crowd cheers back in response.) “I think that’s a resounding ‘yes,’ and another hit in your track record, Haruhi.”
Haruhi: “My my, you guys are too kind tonight. Though I think I’ve heard someone say your voice clearly carried the entire song.”
Iori: “Aha, that’s sweet. Yuuki, Yamato, how was it?”
Yuuki: “It was sooo hard to keep up the pace, I’m washed! Haruhi~ Can we dial back the difficulty, pretty please?
Haruhi: “You got it. I’ll write something near-impossible to play next, just for you!”
Yuuki: “Did you even listen!?”
(The crowd laughs at their cat and mouse bickering.)
Yamato: “Come on, we should focus. We can’t be chatting all day when we’ve got other songs to show them.”
Iori: “Oops, you’re right... Ah, but before we continue, we have something very important to share with you all!”
Haruhi: “Right, right, that. If there’s something to remember from tonight, it’s going to be this!”
Yuuki: “Iori, don’t leave them hanging like that~”
Iori: “Of course not! Hrm, so thanks to your unwavering support… ‘Gravity’ will have its very first solo concert next month!!”
[NARRATION]
Iori: “When the four of us were together, nothing seemed insurmountable.”
“At the time, we thought we were invincible.”
Track 2–Rokuou(?) High School, eleventh grade’s classroom 3
Yamato: “Aaah, here we go again…”
Iori: “At least they, um, ‘get along’…?”
Haruhi: “And can you stop telling me to piss off, like, right now? It’s starting to get on my nerves~”
Yuuki: “Why would I? Oh, I’m sooo sorry, did that hurt? I would never hurt your feelings on purpose~ The words just flew from my mouth when I saw you, that’s sooo crazy~”
Haruhi: “Yikes, keep that cheekiness to yourself, thanks. You sure have a big mouth for such a teeny-tiny man.”
Yuuki: “Is that man in the room with us?”
Haruhi: “Do you see anyone else, or do you want me to crouch to your level and repeat?”
Yuuki: “Gah! Didn’t you promise not to bring up my height again!? Are you deaf or just stupid?
Haruhi: “I did? I can be so forgetful sometimes~”
Yuuki: “Then don’t do it again, got it~? I hate that with all my being.”
Haruhi: “Whether I bring it up or not won’t change much. Despite your best efforts to zip my mouth, you are and always will be an itty-bitty fry.”
(Yuuki reaches for Haruhi, stumbling on the table.)
Yuuki: “Nghhh, Ha-ru-hi…!”
Haruhi: “Hahaha! That cut deep, didn’t it? Yay~!”
Iori: “Guys, calm down…”
Yamato: “Knock it off you two.”
Yuuki: “I didn’t start it! It’s because of Haruhi and his nasty personality. ...Don’t you ever call me tiny, small fry, shrimp, or anything of the sort!
Haruhi: “Roger that, pipsqueak.”
Yuuki: “I swear, you fu—”
Haruhi: “BAHAHA!”
Iori: “Haruhi! Drop it already...!”
[NARRATION]
Haruhi: “To Iori, to these two… And to me as well…
“‘Gravity’ was our safe haven, and I loved every second around them.”
Track 3–Rokuou(?) High School, old school building, in the musical equipment storage room
Haruhi: “I can’t believe I’m alive to hear this. I could die right here and I’d thank you…!”
Yuuki: “Hehe, there he goes, back on cloud nine as soon as Iori praises him.”
Yamato: “Our man is like a dog wagging his tail around his owner.”
Iori: “Okay, okay, now you’re just overreacting, let’s tone it down...”
Haruhi: “I am not. All of my songs are made with your voice in mind. It’s the best compliment I could ever hear.”
Iori: “Again with this nonsense… Listen, you can have my singing in mind, but your songs are not for me—they’re for ‘Gravity.’”
Yuuki: “... ...”
Yamato: “Yuuki? Are you all right?”
Yuuki: “Huh? Yeah, yeah, I was just thinking.”
[NARRATION]
Yuuki: “As a group, we believed we were better than anyone else. But we were wrong, so wrong.
He was the real star.”
Track 4–In the streets
Yuuki: “...Um, Yamato!”
Yamato: “Mh?”
Yuuki: “We... We’ll continue to make music together, won’t we?”
Yamato: “... ...I’d like to think we will.”
[NARRATION]
Yamato: “We left a lot unsaid.”
“I couldn’t bring myself to speak up. I was afraid you’d break down.”
Track 5–Rokuou(?) High School, in front of the school’s staffroom
Haruhi: “...Are you sure about this, Iori? Do you really want to drop our activities as a group?”
Iori: “Mhm.”
Haruhi: “Nothing I’ll do or say will make you reconsider your decision? Absolutely nothing?”
Iori: “...Nothing.”
Haruhi: “... ...Alright, as you wish.” “‘Gravity’ is officially disbanded.”
