"is it that car?"
"hm. try again!"
"oh, it's the stoplight! the stoplight's red!" i step on the brake slowly as estella said so. we're playing a game called "i spy with my little eye" i saw in the movies that this is what most adults play with kids while in the car. well duh, i'm trying to be the best ninang here! and today is my first day alone with estella!
it's sunday so wala naman akong work. but her parents were busy. the firm's closed but kalix accompanied luna to her sudden business trip. i really wonder if it's a business trip... jk! i would just enjoy this time with my inaanak. "yes, you're right!"
she giggles, clasping her hands as she continues to look around the car then the road. kalix told me she needs to go to her pedia for her general check-up so here i am. "next! next please!"
i chuckle, hearing her sweet little voice but i was a bit distracted din because we're already looking for a parking at the hospital, "oh wait lang, i'll just park the car, okay?"
sunday naman pero bakit ubusan parking? hassle.
suddenly, estella squeals, startling me when i almost parked my montero. it was the damn car flashing its headlights at me, "what the fu--"
"ooh, shiny!" estella claps her hands, staring at the car behind us when i am here, ready to clap back to whoever this asshole is! so instead of focusing on that, i reversed the car. dapat magback park ako pero what the hell?! that friggin car took my spot! "oh no, there's a car na..."
"ah yes pero wait lang ha" i smiled at estella, comforting her before i find another spot just three cars away from that one. okay naman 'yung spot but that one was better kasi it was closer to the elevator. i sigh. kung wala lang 'yung bata, ugh! i smiled estella to assure her. when we got off, she was already hopping as i held her hand because i told her if she did not cry later, she can get an ice cream.
it was already fine until that car earlier was still on. the engine's still running. that asshole is still there! with estella, i walked near its driver's seat. i was supposed to knock when a guy wearing slacks and a blue buttoned shirt went out with some papers. he was about to close the door when i called him, "hey, ikaw!"
he raised a brow at me then looking at estella. "ikaw! ang kapal mo. nauna ako sa spot kanina and you'll just take it? did you know that i had a child on board? anong gusto mo— kilala mo ba tatay ng batang 'to? what if may nangyari?! gusto mo bang ipakulong kita?!"
with wide eyes, he just stared at me. estella was just smiling at his look while i continued to intimidate him. "huh? pakulong? bakit...?"
"weren't you listening? kanina! you almost crashed us or something!" i tried to be calm. baby girl was still there but she seemed innocent, looking at us funny.
"ah, well. i'm sorry but this is the doctor's parking spot." what? doktor siya? i looked at the front of his car. and oh. it was really for doctors.
damn, i'm glad i did not say i was a lawyer. i paused before looking back at him who is now grinning at me. estella was giggling. this kid... did she know?
ugh! "oh, sorry. i just.. never mind, doc"
i slowly walked away, not waiting for his response. i think he called me but whatever. estella and i went in the hospital. she said she wanted to go to the restroom so we did before going to her pedia. "what's the name of your doctor, babe?"
"doctor clyden ramirez po" she smiles as she washes her hands. "he is my dad's friend. and my friend's dad" that phrase got me confused but okay. kanina kasi, i saw the guy's name and it was alcazar? shocks. buti na lang. if ever, nakakahiya talaga. i don't want to see him! my pride?!
after estella's done, we went to the elevators. and just when i had my sigh of relief— DAMN IT. it's him. "oh, miss attorney!" he smiles widely at me. he's now wearing a lab coat.
but what?! attorney? "what? are you stalking me?"
"ha? grabe pala mga abogado, grabe mang-accuse!" he laughs a bit, licking his lips, "nakita ko sa sasakyan mo kanina. naks naman, abogado ka pala. alam mo ba kaso ng mga nagbibigay ng false accusation?"
as the elevator opened, i immediately took estella in. akala ko puno na dapat pero no, kami lang dalawa?! so he got in. what the hell is this?! I HATE THIS. "floor?" he grins at me before smiling at estella.
"ah, 3rd lang" he nods, pressing the 3rd without pressing any other number.
no way.
"anak mo, attorney?" dr. alcazar asks, pointing at estella who stays quiet, observing the two of us.
"no"
"cold mo naman, parang kanina... ang dami mong sinabi" he chuckles, which irritated me more. but instead of arguing, i looked away. "kala ko nga, aangkinin mo rin 'tong elevator e. ang bilis mong isara 'yung pinto" he laughs again, staring at me. i wasn't looking but i think i catch a glimpse of him, studying my face.
"baka mamaya angkinin mo na rin pati ang pu—" i didn't let him finish as the elevator doors open. i immediately went out. feel ko, he's supposed to get out at the same floor. i don't want to be put in that misery! ganito ba feeling ni kalix noon sa akin?! whenever i can't stop being with him?! worse, i don't even know him!
i sigh, as i held estella tighter. she was just smiling. ang bait naman ng anak nina luna. we went to 301, dr. ramirez's office. but...
"wala po ma'am. sorry po pero he won't be here today"
"sure? i mean there was an appointment"
"po? sure po ba kayong appointment?" now that made me raise a brow. so what's this? kalix didn't set a schedule? I THOUGHT THEY HAD IT. "ay meron po pala!"
alam mo ate, if i wasn't really debunked earlier, i could've ... never mind.
"oh, so? where is the doctor?"
"hindi po talaga siya pupunta. pero wait lang po" the receptionist looked back at the computer while i looked at estella. she was so quiet, hm. she's a mixture of her parents. sa firm, she seems to be always jolly like her mom pero she observes like her father.
i wonder what she's thinking.
"ah ma'am! may mag-general check-up po kay ms. martinez. may kinausap po si dr. ramirez"
"how sure am i with that doctor? baka mamaya, ano mangyari sa bata?"
"don't worry ma'am, dr. alcaraz is as good as dr. ramirez"
i was about to nod when— ALCAZAR?! "what?"
i was about to speak further when someone got in the office, holding a folder. "oh, attorney... are you stalking me?!"
he pointed at his self dramatically as what i did earlier. is he mocking me?! "uh..."
"doc, siya po 'yung may papacheck-up kay dr. ramirez" the receptionist smiled but i was still in shock.
"ah kita ko nga. mukhang na-stroke e. na-starstruck ata sakin" he grins, putting me back on my senses. what does he think he is?! gwapo ba siya?! he looks good but... no.
"ang kapal..." then i remember i was with estella so i fakely smiled. he tilts his head before walking near us.
"sige na, attorney. 'wag ka na mahiya. let's go to the office so i could check little martinez here" he bends to smile at estella who smiles back wider at him. "pati na rin ikaw, baka may kailangan ka eh"
i sigh heavily. today is sunday but this is worse than my days at the office. BAKIT NOW PA, AT BAKIT SIYA PA?
"tita, let's go!" estella beams, pulling my hand. but before we proceed, she gestures me to come closer for a whisper. what does this kid know? and so, when i bended my knees, she whispers with a giggle, "the doctor is in... the doctor is into you, ninang"
