Wonwoo arrived at their company after another set of conversation with Cheska and her fiancé, Seungcheol.
He didn't bother checking his phone as he was in a hurry because there was an urgent meeting he need to attend. He was about to message Gayle a while ago but since his Dad called for him, nawala na lang ito sa isipan.
Magkikita naman sila mamaya kaya hihintayin na lang niya yung oras na matapos siya sa meeting.
While they were in the middle of discussing something, Wonwoo's Dad tapped him, his face worried.
"Nak, you should go." His dad told him, and from the way he sounded, it perks up a slight panic from Wonwoo.
Confused, he further asked.
"Bakit, Dad? May nangyari ba?" He tried to stay calm ignoring the possible thoughts and scenarios in his head.
"Jeonghan and Page's Dad called me, naaksidente si Jeonghan—" Wonwoo didn't even let his father continue, he dashed out from the conference room.
He was already in the lobby of their company when he saw Soonyoung and Jun, worry plastered in their faces too.
"Tangina, Wonwoo! Kanina ka pa namin tinadtad ng text at tawag." Soonyoung welcomed. It's like any time soon, paiyak na din siya.
Soonyoung is always the emotional one among them. He values the people in his life kaya ganito na lang siya ka emotional sa mga nangyayari.
"Fuck! Where are my keys." Wonwoo cursed, not just the keys he left in his office but also to himself.
He mentally cursed himself for not paying attention to his phone. For being late to the news and for not being in Gayle's side right now.
Jun noticed that Wonwoo is about lose it kaya he offered to drive.
"Ano daw nangyari, Jun?" Soonyoung bravely asked as he tries to ease the tension while they were on their way to the hospital.
Wonwoo remained quiet but he's listening intently. Jun saw from his peripheral how Wonwoo gripped his phone tighter.
"Galing din kasi ako doon sa office ni Kuya. And his secretary told me, the truck lost his control on the brakes, naka stoplight pero yung sasakyan ni Kuya yung nasa unahan kaya siya yung napurohan." Jun said.
He was supposed to meet Jeonghan, but as he arrived at their company, every one was worried and all over the place. So when he heard the news, he informed his friends. Sadly, Wonwoo knew about it later than anyone.
"Bakit ba di ko man lang naisip buksan ang cellphone ko. Tangina talaga!" Wonwoo spoke na ikinagulat ng dalawa because he was quiet the whole time.
And as soon as they entered the hospital, Wonwoo scanned his eyes to the woman that was on his mind the whole time. Aside from the condition of Jeonghan, Wonwoo is equally worried for Gayle fully knowing the love and care she has for her brother.
So when he spotted her, sitting with her arms crossed rubbing them as if she's trying to comfort herself. But he also saw the guy beside him, Joshua, his hands around her shoulders and a bottle of water on the other hand.
He didn't mind his unexplainable feelings building up. Ang importante sa kaniya ngayon ay si Gayle.
He rush to her side, Soons and Jun following behind.
"Hey, baby." He crouched down, leveling his eyes with hers.
And when their eyes met, Wonwoo's heart dropped to his stomach. Her eyes were bloodshot, her cheeks stained with dry and fresh tears.
She's a mess but he paid no mind to it. He wrapped his arms around her but the next thing that happened is not something he expected.
Gayle pushed him, not roughly but enough to let him feel that there's something wrong aside from the happenings with Jeonghan.
"Baby, I'm sorry for reading your texts late." He explained softly but her face displayed no emotions.
It was blank that it made Wonwooo ten times worried than he already is.
"Hayaan mo muna siya. She's still in a state of shock." Joshua spoke making Wonwoo turn his head to him.
Wonwoo was about to say something when the doctor approached them.
Hindi pa dumadating ang parents nina Gayle because they are still flying from Cebu to Manila. So Gayle had to face this alone as Jeonghan's only family present at the moment.
They turned their attention on the doctor and from the look in his face, it's bad.
"The results from the X-Rays and CT Scans shows that the patient have a fractured rib on the left side, it was caused by the impact of the truck on his window, he'll have to undergo a surgery for that." The doctor first said before taking a breath and dropping the worst news that Gayle has heard tonight.
"And, Ma'am, I'm so sorry to tell you this but the patient will have to undergo an immediate surgery as it was found in the results that the patient had a severe inernal bleeding in his side of the head. And a surgery is necessary to repair the blood vessel and remove excess blood so it won't cause further infection around his brain."
Parang wala nang halos marining si Gayle sa sinasabi ng doktor, so he held someone for support to keep her firm and Wonwoo was quick enough to hold her.
And when they thought, it was done, the doctor sighed causing another panic rush to Gayle's entire being.
"It may result to a comatose." The doctor ended his statement but it left Gayle frozen and speechless.
It's like it left her lifeless with the amount of information she has to process at that hour.
And when the doctor left to prepare for the surgery, Gayle fell into her knees, the second time that night.
Wonwoo and Joshua assisted her to seat again in the benches. Wonwoo didn't let go but so did Joshua.
"Ako na dito, Joshua." Wonwoo calmly said.
"I was with her the moment we arrived here, so I won't leave." Joshua retorts.
Jun and Soonyoung can already feel the thick tension so they can't help but step in.
"Mamaya na kayo mag agawan sa kung sino ang aalis at mananatali. All of us are staying until everything's okay." Soonyoung seriously said.
"Pagey, pahinga ka muna. Kami na dito maghihintay sa parents niyo." Jun cooed at Gayle who's staring blankly at the scene in front of her.
She shook her head and didn't say anything. She just remained quiet as they wait in the waiting area.
"Baby, gusto mo magpahangin muna? Hmm?" Wonwoo asked a couple of minutes of silence from everyone. She shook her head as a response.
She's not in the right head space right now. And the last thing she needs is another heart break.
She remembers the text she received about Wonwoo and Cheska and she can't help but overthink that she might experience another set of heart break tonight.
He tucked her messy hair behind her ears, and grabbed the hair tie he always had in his pocket for Gayle. He tied her hair into a ponytail and fixed her bangs so it won't cover her face.
Wonwoo's heart clenched at the state she's in. Kung pwede lang akuin niya yung nararamdaman ni Gayle, gagawin niya. All for the woman he whole heartedly and will forever care for.
"Andito lang ako, Gayle. Di kita iiwan." He whispered and pulled her in so she can rest her head on his shoulder.
