Gayle led the way to the house's terrace, where there was a bon fire set in the middle. It was peaceful and quiet to which is a perfect place for them to talk.
Iginaya niya si Wonwoo na umupo and so he did, just beside her leaving a space.
The atmosphere was warm and peaceful but they were a bit awkward. It's been four years since they were this close to each other, it's been four years since the last time they talked.
And the last time even led them to a heart break.
But along the warm night are hopeful hearts, that things could patch into something great.
"How are you?" Gayle started, stuttering along the line.
"I've been travelling and busy lately but I'm doing great, Gayle. You?" Wonwoo asked back habang ang mga mata niya ay nakatingala sa langit admiring the stars above them.
"I'm doing great too, Wonwoo." She said and copied him, she also looked up the night sky.
No one talked after her reply as both of them are in awe with how beautiful the night is. Or maybe it was extra beautiful that they are beside each other.
There are still untold words but the beating of their hearts says other wise, it's more than a thousand of meanings.
"I went to Seoul last year." Wonwoo breaks the silence and this time his eyes found hers.
"Hmm?"
"I went there and I saw you."
Gayle meets his stare, unable to form words in her mouth as she comprehends the words he just said. Wonwoo took that as cue to continue.
"I had to stop myself from coming inside that café where you greeted your customers with a smile." Wonwoo said sadly remembering that day where he stood outside that glass window, meters away from the café.
He stood there for almost two hours, just admiring the person he hoped and yearned for. But he wasn't as brave as he thought he would be at that moment so he just let himself admire the smile that he misses from the spot he was on.
"And Shua knew about it." Wonwoo confessed. Shua was the one who told him about Gayle's life in Seoul because for Shua, yun na lang ang kaya niyang maibigay sa isang taong umaasa.
"But I told him not to tell you." He continues.
Gayle just stared at Wonwoo, but unaware to her, there were already tears escaping from her eyes.
She blinked when she realized that the water won't stop anytime.
"I thought I was crazy." She said which left Wonwoo confused, his brows furrowing.
"I thought my eyes were betraying me that time but that was really you, Wonwoo."
A sob escaped from her lips as she let herself cry. Halo-halo ang nararamdaman niya na hindi na niya alam kung ano ba ang dapat niyang maramdaman sa mga pagkakataon na iyon.
"I thought na there's no way Wonwoo would be here, but it was really you." She said taking a deep breath to calm herself.
And in that moment, Wonwoo realizes that he wasn't the only that was scared at that time, but she was too. And if only he knew, he could've run to her whatever the outcome was.
"Gayle?" He moved closer and enveloped his warm hands to her shaking ones, then soothes the back of her hand with his thumb.
Gayle was already full on crying, no words was able to come out as she lets herself cry in front of him. The emotions she was holding for four years just bursted in front of the person that she constantly think of from all the years that passed.
"Baby?" He softly called again and this time, their eyes meet again.
And there they realized that all those years, their heart still leads them back to each other.
"I'm sorry, Wonwoo." Gayle said bago pa man magsalita si Wonwoo.
"I'm sorry for putting an end to us without even considering what you'll feel. Ni hindi man lang ang ako nag paalam ng maayos sa'yo. And here I am, four years late from apologizing to what I did." Gayle sobs again, shaking her head regretting the things that happened four years ago.
"Hey, it's all good, Gayle. Andito ka na." Wonwoo puts his other hand on her cheek wiping the tears and caresses it like it was the most fragile thing in the world.
"What matters is you are here again, Baby."
Gayle held his wrist tightly like she's scared of letting go again.
"Nakauwi ka na sakin, yun lang ang hiniling ko at heto ka ngayon." Wonwoo's voice breaks as he remembered what they went through to be back here.
"Mahal kita, Wonwoo."
There's no point in denying the feelings and emotions because time already forbade them to say the words they were unable to say.
"I love you and I promise I won't run away again."
And she said that with her eyes not leaving his.
"And I love you more, Gayle."
And a lone tear escaped from his as there were so many unspoken feelings from the past that he wasn't able to say but here they are, meaning every words.
"If it's not you then it's not anyone. My heart only belongs to you." Wonwoo confessed pulling her in for a hug.
The night was warm but so as their hearts that is then again healed after being wounded and scarred.
Their eyes met again but words are not needed to know what their heart wants.
As slowly as the wind, their lips brushes against each other, and as they close their eyes, they closed the gap between them. Putting every thing, every feeling in that kiss.
When they separated, catching their breaths, Wonwoo said something that took Gayle's breath away.
"Marry me, Gayle."
